This is a fully licensed classic. Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified. If you combined the work of Raymond Loewy, I.M. Pei and Eero Saarinen, the result might very well look like the Platner Collection (1966). Warren Platner worked with all three of the industrial and organic design giants before turning his attention to steel wire furniture, for which he devised the structure and production method. Requiring as many as 1,000 welds and crafted out of wire and space, the Dining Table demonstrates Platner's belief that there is room in modernism "for the kind of decorative, gentle, graceful design that appeared in a period style like Louis XV." Constructed of metal components that are finished in bright nickel with a clear lacquer protective coating, the table features a clear plastic extrusion ring surrounding the base to protect floors and ensure a level tabletop. RedPointyHeels Design Within Reach - Eclipse Lamp Sep 6, 2007 8:19 PM Designer Mauricio Klabin Recently selected for the permanent collection of MoMA's Department of Architecture and Design. Exclusive to Design Within Reach. Brazilian Maurício Klabin designed the Eclipse Lamp in 1982 as part of a series of objects he called "cocoons," due to their rounded form, internal volumes and capacity to change. With the same kind of coiled delicacy you find in a soft-shelled nautilus, the Eclipse is a model of simplicity and ingenuity. Fabricated from a single strip of polypropylene attached to a steel frame, the Eclipse can be opened or closed to varying degrees. This allows the shape of the fixture to be altered to expand or reduce the amount of direct light or change the angle of illumination. Assembly required.
